Interest Tracker How To Guide

Interest Tracker is a great way to track and Share Interests, Hobbies or anything one can desire. The application also connects with Facebook to Share interest with larger communities

The section below provide a step by step tutorial on how to use the application

                                                Image 1: Interest Tracker  - Main Screen

The Image above (Image 1) is the main screen of the Interest Tracker App. The App provides a list of 4 Sample Category. User can delete it latter on – the intent of the sample data is to provide a general idea of using the application.

The Main screen has the following core functions

• A Table display of all categories with Category Name in Bold and Category Description in small font text. Selecting a Category displays the next screen (refer Image 2) displaying the Topic within the selected Category
•  A Create (+) symbol at the top, which provides user the ability of creating new category or topics within any category (refer Image 4)

When user clicks on a category from main screen (refer image 1), Interest Tracker – Category Detail Screen is shown. In this example – user has selected Category “Mountain Vacation”. Under this category there exists 4 Topic of Interest shown in a tabular form. Please note these are sample data.

The Category Detail Screen provides the following core functions /options

• The screen displays all topic of the selected Interest Category. The Topic Name is shown in the list. Selecting a Topic shows the final navigation page with detail of the topic (refer image 3)
•  The Tab bar has the following four buttons
•  Create (+): Using this user can create new Topic Of interest for the selected Category. (Refer Image 5)
•  Edit: Allows user to Edit Category information (Refer Image 7)
• Delete: Allows user to delete a category. Please note user can only delete category with no topic. If Topic exists in Category. User has to first delete all topics before deleting a category. Topic can be delete in Topic Detail screen (refer image 3)
• FaceBook: allows user to post all category information in user facebook wall (Refer image 8)
• Back: Allows user to go to Main screen (refer image 1)

When user clicks on a Topic from Category Detail screen (refer image 3), Interest Tracker – Topic Detail Screen is shown. In this example – user has selected Topic “Luerne, Switzerland”. The Topic detail screen four information as described below:

•  Topic Name: Name of the Topic Name.  In this example the Topic Name label is shown as “Mountain Vacation” (The label can be changed by clicking the Edit button from the toolbar)
• Topic Description: Description of the Topic. In this example the Topic Description label is shown as “Mountain Vacation Details” (The label can be changed by clicking the Edit button from the toolbar)
• Date of Creation
• Topic Completed: User can use the slider to show whether the Topic is active or completed.

The Topic Detail Screen Tab bar has the following four buttons

• Edit: Allows user to Edit Topic or Topic Label information (Refer Image 9)
• Delete: Allows user to delete the topic.
• FaceBook: allows user to post the topic information in user facebook wall (Refer image 8)
• Back: Allows user to go to Category Detail screen (refer image 2)

This Screen is displayed when user clicks on the create (+) button from the Main Screen (refer Image 1)

The screen displays the following two options

• Create New Interest Category: Allows user to create new Category of Interest / hobbies/To-Do list (refer Image 5)
• Create New Topic in an Existing Category: Allows user to create a Topic in an existing Interest Category (refer image 6)

This screen is displayed when user clicks on Create New Interest Category from Creation Options Screen (refer image 4)

The screen allows user to create New Interest Category. Upon creation the new category is shown in the main Category Screen (refer image 1) Following are the fields displayed for New Category creation:

• Category Name*: User enters new category name in a text field. Please note this is a mandatory field. The category name needs to be unique or the application alerts for duplication
• Category Description*: User enters description of the new category in a multi-line text field. Please note this is a mandatory field

The screen displays the following tab bar button:

• Save: Saves the new category and transition to main Category Display Screen (refer Image 1). Save will check for duplicate value and blank fields and warn the user accordingly
• Cancel: Cancel clears the fields and allows user to re-enter values
• Back: Takes user Back to Creation Option Screen (refer image 4)

           Image 6:Interest Tracker – Create New Topic in an Existing Category

This screen is displayed when user clicks on Create New Topic in an Existing Category: from Creation Options Screen (refer image 4)

The screen allows user to create New Topic in an existing Interest Category. Following are the fields displayed for New Topic creation:

• Topic Name*: User enters new topic name in a text field. Please note this is a mandatory field. The topic name needs to be unique in the selected category or the application alerts for duplication
• Topic Description*: User enters description of the new category in a multi-line text field. Please note this is a mandatory field
• Select a Category*:  User selects a existing category from the list shown in a scroll view

The screen displays the following tab bar button:

• Save: Saves the new topic and transition to main Category Display Screen (refer Image 1). Save will check for duplicate value and blank fields and warn the user accordingly
• Cancel: Cancel clears the fields and allows user to re-enter values
• Back: Takes user Back to Creation Option Screen (refer image 4)

                                 Image 7:Interest Tracker – Update Category

This screen is displayed when user taps Edit button on Category Detail Screen: (refer image 2)

This screen allows user to modify a Category Name or Description Following are the fields displayed for Category update:

• Category Name*: The current category name is displayed. User can change the category name. If user enters any existing category except the current category name the application alerts for duplicate entry
• Category Description*:  The current description is shown and user can modify the description.

The screen displays the following tab bar button:

• Save: Saves the updated category and transition to main Category Display Screen (refer Image 1). Save will check for duplicate value and blank fields and warn the user accordingly
• Refresh: Display the original Category and Category description value.
• Back: Takes user Back to Category Detail Screen (refer image 2)

Image 8:Interest Tracker – Post To Facebook

This screen is displayed when user taps on the Facebook icon either from the category detail screen (refer image 2) or from the topic detail screen (refer image 3).

If clicked from Category detail screen – user can post all topics in a particular interest category to Facebook. If clicked from topic detail screen – user can post only the displayed Topic to Facebook.

Please note that user may be prompted to login to Facebook if not already logged in. If not logged in to Facebook upon clicking the Facebook button the user will be shown a Facebook login screen. User needs to enter a valid Facebook user ID and password.

Before the post to Wall screen is shown user permission is requested to access the wall to post the information. Please note the application does not read anything from user profile or wall but simply uses the Facebook medium to post to wall.

Optionally user can also add some additional comment to add to the comment thread. The entire comment is shown as text below for user to read before sharing

This is a cool way to share topics of interest/hobbies with a larger group.

The Tab Bar shows the following buttons:

• Cancel: Takes the control back to the application
• Share: Post the comments on user Wall and returns to application

                                           Image 9:Interest Tracker – Update Topic

This screen is displayed when user taps Edit button on Topic Detail Screen (refer image 3)

This screen allows user to update topic details or topic labels. By default the “Edit Topic button” is selected which, displays the following field

• Topic Name*: The current topic name is displayed. User can change the topic name. If user enters any existing topic except the current topic name the application alerts for duplicate entry
• Topic Description*:  The current description is shown and user can modify the description.

If user taps on the “Edit Label Button” the application allows user to change the labels of the topic. Following fields are displayed

• Topic Label Name*: The current topic Label is displayed. User can change the topic Label.
• Topic Label Description Name *:  The current topic description label is shown and user can modify the description

The screen displays the following tab bar button:

• Done: Saves the updated topic or topic label and transition to Category Detail Screen (refer Image 2).
• Refresh: Display the original topic and topic description (value or label based on user selection).
• Back: Takes user Back to Category Detail Screen (refer image 2)
